Hello everyone, once agin. So, this post will be about why to use or not use linux. (I really have no idea what should i post please help if you can) So, lets start by the pros of linux, here they are: - anonymity - customization - freedom - free - maintained - nobody forcing you to download any updates etc. - less malware And now the cons: - non compatibility with certain software - for some people hard to use - worse wifi than on other - in case you are trying to get in because you forgot the password and ecrypted your drive, your screwed So, first I will explain the pros By the anonymity I meant that you are not spied on by any corporation(atleast on most distros uhm ubuntu) to get accurate ads. By the customization, the fact that you can just go and change speed of every single animation is great. The freedom - you can hack anyone, and linux just wouldn't care, in windows however, microsoft would already spy on you and send all the data to FBI etc. Free - you dont have to pay for it eighter separately(windows), or included in something else(apple). Mainained - Windows 10 for example still has remanents of windows 3.1.. from 1985. Thats almost 40 years by now, and i am preety sure the same applies for apple. Updates.. - Ever saw that `Dont turn off your pc...` dialog in windows and reconsidered your life choices? Ye, linux doesnt have that. For example, I have 5 month old kernel, and to be honest, I dont care and Ill update it only after some bug is found in the one I'm currently using. Less malware - It makes sence since everyone on linux is commonly tech savy, so they know how to recognize malware, therefore its not as profitable(excluding servers obviously, but thats a different story). Now the cons explanations: The compatibility is generally worse for linux compared to Windows & Mac, for example the adobe or autodesk software. Hard of use of linux for some people - I think its self explanatory, but I want to mention one more thing. Its not always like that. There are certain linux distros that make linux easy to use. Common example is android, which about 40% of people on this planet use. The worse wifi, was detected by me. On windows, there seems to be generally better wifi speeds/connectivity to alot of networks. But its not kernels problem. The open source driver for certain network cards is just not as great as for the closed source one directly from the corporation. And the password con. I was not exactly sure if this should be con or pro, but as we all know, windows is more hackable than anything else ever created. If you dont use bitlocker, which 99% of people dont use, except if their microsoft account connected to a company forces it to be used, the computer can be hacked in 10 minutes, if the computer is really slow. Letme just explain how easy it is: - boot from external media or boot into recovery mode using F8 - shift + F10 to bringing up the command prompt - xcopy ..cmd.exe ..sethc.exe - reboot - shift key 5 times - hapily extract the data so, ye its preety easy. So, thats about it. Personally, I use linux, arch to be exact. Enjoy everyone, I hope you are having better time than me right now.
