Hello everyone! Welcome to another one of my blogs, today it will be about how intel desktop/mobile cpu's are named. So, first lets calculate the number in front. First, the generation times a thousand. So third gen will be 3000, 10th 10000. Then, we can add the performance class number in the hundreds. Now this wont just be 3, 5, 7 or 9, but rather a scale which somewhat indicates in more detail how performant is the cpu. For example i3's can have 1-3, i5's will have 4-6.5, i7's 6.5 - 7, and i9's have 8 - 9. So ours will be the best desktop core i5, therefore 600. Now the last 2 digits are just subclass of the performance class, which is mainly used in mobile chips. But now, lets get to the funny letters The good ones: K = Unlocked for overclocking S = Overclocked (Must include K already) HX = Mobile, but still good The bad ones: F = No IGPU T = Worse U = Low power consumption Y = Even lower power consumption So, lets generate our own cpu name, shall we? Lets generate a name for 5th gen i9, that will be desktop and overclocked. 5 * 1000 + 9 * 100 = 5900 + KS for overclocked, and there we have it, 5900KS. Thats it! See you next time. This is the last post in the year, thought it would be interesting!
