Hello everyone! Welcome to another one of my posts! Todays post will be about why and how to geolock your website! So, why would you want to geolock your website? Mostly because of country's laws. For example, if you publish your website in europe and your website saves 1 byte worth of cookies without asking the user first? You get a fine. Your website doesn't include a privacy policy? You get a fine. Your website includes copyrighted content? Prison and seized servers. How can we prevent this? Well, first you need to block the entire mainland europe from your access list? Something like cloudflare makes this easy, but if you are just using port forwarding, you can still check browser language or ip address to be in the correct region. How to not block it from the entire europe? VPN's allow you to (legally)say that the website was accessed from a non-european soil, therefore you are not responsible. How to deal with copyrighted content? Simply place your server in the netherlands. Thats because netherlands has no laws against piracy, and you can do whatever there. Now, how do you obey the other laws, since netherlands is in the EU... Another option is to position your server in the demilitarized zone between north and south korea since north korea has no internet, therefore preety much 0 laws against it(it barley knows its laws), or in the international waters, such as in the ocean, or on the moon. This way you are not under any laws whatsoever, and if someone tries to stop you? Just pull out a gun, its international waters after all. If you don't want to bother with all this however, there is a better way. Turns out, with the Tor network nobody can know where your server is running from. Just encrypt your servers, and you should be good to go! This is everything for today, see you next time.
